The Great Cupcake Challenge!

Friends, family, and community gather together to celebrate the start of summer with The Great Cupcake Challenge of Northfield! Own a bakery? Love to bake? Ready to showcase your talent? This challenge allows professional and amateur kitchens to strut their culinary talent. It is a great way to showcase culinary skills for Caterers, Bakeries, Restaurants, Fund Raising Teams, Teams of Friends, or maybe just a fun way to earn extra cash for vacation! Entry Fees are $10 per entry or $25 for 3 entries and all proceeds are raising funds for Northfield’s Neighbors at Home organization. Each entry must have at least 12 cupcakes and must be set up for 1pm at Northfield Golf Club. Come for the fun! Folks will be able to donate $5 to sample these yummy little masterpieces.

Participants will either enter into the Professional Kitchens or the Amateur Kitchens categories. In addition to bragging rights and display medals, the event sponsors are awarding cash prizes! First Place Prizes are $100, 2nd Place Prizes $50, and 3rd Place Prizes $25 for each category. The contest themes are Summer Fun and Most Patriotic; cupcakes will be judged for taste and presentation. A People’s Choice award will also be voted on by the public, so show your creativity! All ages and teams are encouraged to enter!

There’s also an exciting lineup of judges, including Executive Chef Robert Conlin of The Farm Table at Kringle Candle, Baking Instructor of Franklin County Technical High School Christa Snyder, Northfield’s Fire Chief “Skip” Dunnell, Northfield’s Police Chief Robert Leighton, Navy Veteran Peter Blake, and Bill McGee, President of Northfield Neighbors at Home.

Amongst the activities will be raffles for baskets, gift cards and prizes donated by area businesses and friends, a Cupcake Decorating tent for children, Touch a Fire Truck with the Northfield Junior Firefighters and Touch a Cruiser by the Northfield Police Department, a Bicycle Decorating Contest and Parade, Face Painting, Golf-Putting Contest, Hot dogs, and all kinds of great fundraising activities. Cash bar is available at the club house and live music will be performed by First Impression throughout the afternoon.

Neighbors at Home is a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization dedicated to helping residents age in place and thrive in the community. The community vision allows neighbors to help neighbors to live in their homes as lifelong residents. Whether it’s yourself or an aging family member, the concern becomes more present as we grow older. The mission statement is clear: Neighbors at Home is dedicated to working cooperatively to provide a variety of supports for seniors and their families, connecting them to resources, services, and friendship that they need for fulfilling a lifetime in Northfield.

This event is a delicious way to help support our Neighbors at Home. Volunteers from Citizens Bank will be standing by to help with ticket sales on site. The event is sponsored by Transitions Salon of Greenfield, Northfield Golf Club, and Cameron’s Winery of Northfield. Signup sheets to enter are at all three sponsor locations. You may call 413-225-3247 with questions or visit Cameronswinery.com, Transitions Salon of Greenfield, or Northfield Golf Club.
